Aug. 2015 (UTC)
Zwou Woche fir d'Panorama-Fräiheet an Europa ze retten
änneren- Feel free to translate this message into Luxembourgish.
Hi all,
What is going on?
- In the European Parliament a proposal (amendment) has been submitted to limit the Freedom of Panorama in Europe. The proposal is part of a larger plan to harmonize the copyright law in the various countries of the European Union.
- If this proposal is adopted and implemented, it will mean that users on Wikipedia are no longer allowed to upload photographs of modern buildings or public works of art and use them in Wikipedia.
- Even if freedom of panorama is allowed only for non-commercial purposes, this is an issue for Wikipedia. The current license under what we write Wikipedia, CC-BY-SA, is not compatible with non-commercial licenses, as they would restrict the re-use of the content.
Freedom of panorama?
- Photos of modern buildings and public art currently may be uploaded on Commons / Wikipedia and used in articles, only if those pictures were taken in a country that currently has freedom of panorama (FoP), at this moment 16 of the 28 EU countries.
- EU countries with freedom of panorama: Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark*, Finland*, Germany, Ireland, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, and United Kingdom. (* = only for buildings)
- EU countries without freedom of panorama: Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Estonia, France, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Romania, and Slovenia.
- In countries without freedom of panorama, the creator of a creative work (permanently placed in the public space, like buildings, public art, etc.) needs to authorize the release of the photo, also if you have taken the photo yourself.
Which proposal involved?
- It concerns amendment AM421 proposed by Cavada.
When is the vote on this amendment?
- Thursday 9 July.
Can we do something against it?
- Yes! By making known what impact this amendment has to Wikipedia and what damage it can cause to Wikipedia. In recent years it has come to our attention that many politicians do not even know that it is forbidden to publish on their website a photo of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, without the prior permission of the architect. So in the first place creating awareness is important.
- Therefore a CentralNotice banner is prepared and a landing page. If you like, you can create a landing page, just like sv:Wikipedia:Panoramafrihet or de:Wikipedia:Initiative für die Panoramafreiheit.
What can I do?
- Send an e-mail to one or more Members of the European Parliament from your country/area (list of members on Wikipedia and list of the members on the site of the European Parliament (on the page of each member is the e-mail address linked)).
- Send a tweet to one or more Members of the European Parliament from your country/area (or re-tweet) in your language. Ask them for example if they really want Wikipedia to be backed-out or stripped of thousands of images. Or send a tweet to political groups in the parliament or a general tweet about the subject. Examples: 1, 2, 3.
Where is the coordination?
- Here, press releases, media reports, and more matters can be reported / added / suggested.
- Feedback for the suggested banner text and landing page can be provided here: Commons:Freedom of Panorama 2015/Proposed messages.
Where can I read more information?
- Read the article in the Signpost at: Three weeks to save freedom of panorama in Europe
Feel free to translate this message into Luxembourgish. Thanks! Romaine (Diskussioun) 10:28, 22. Jun. 2015 (UTC)
- PS: Suggestion: create an article about the subject of Freedom of Panorama in Luxembourgish. Romaine (Diskussioun) 10:28, 22. Jun. 2015 (UTC)

Och wann dat Lëtzebuerg net direkt concernéiere géif, well do d'Panoramafräiheet net gëllt, bieden ech Iech, sech där Initiativ ze widdersetzen, well si Konsequenzen a ganz Europa hätt. Ech bieden Iech dogéint, sech dofir anzesetzen, datt Biller vu Wierker, déi dauerhaft am ëffentleche Raum stinn - zum Beispill Gebaier oder Statuen - och fir kommerziell Zwecker an der ganzer EU ouni den Accord vum Détenteur des droits d'auteur benotzt kënne ginn, sou wéi dat z.B. schonn an Däitschland, an Holland oder a Groussbritannien de Fall ass.
E puer Beispiller vu Biller, déi ee misst läschen oder "zenséieren", wann déi Initiativ duerchkéim, gesäit een zum Beispill op der däitschsproocheger Wikipedia ënner https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Initiative_f%C3%BCr_die_Panoramafreiheit/Leserinformation .
Esou wéi déi Initiativ am Moment formuléiert ass - a falls se an europäescht Recht géif ëmgesat ginn - géif dat ville Leit, déi gären hir Fotoe mat der Allgemengheet op Wikipedia deelen, onnéideg Steng an de Wee leeën. Op der Wikipedia ginn nämlech all Fotoen ënner enger Form lizenséiert, déi och eng kommerziell Weidernotzung zouléisst. Wann also eng Persoun gären hir Foto zur Verfügung stellt, wär si deemno verflicht ze iwwerpréiwen, op net iergendwou eventuell e Wierk drop ass, dat ënner den Droit d'auteur fält. Dat ass en onzoumuttbaren Opwand an géif eng onzoumuttbar Onsécherheet mat sech bréngen. Donieft wären dovun Honnertdausende vu Photoe betraff, déi schonn am Wikipedia-Archiv sinn. Déi Biller missten dann all geläscht ginn, wat d'Qualitéit vu villen Artikele duerch de Verloscht vun den Biller géif erofsetzen.
Doriwwer eraus gesinn ech, als Deel vun engem Projet, deen d'Verbreedung vu fräiem Wëssen als Zil huet, d'Aschränkung vun der Panoramafräiheet als Ugrëff un d'informationnell Bien communen - en Ugrëff, deem kee gerechtfäerdegten Notze géigeniwwer steet. D'Bierger an d'Biergerinnen, déi Benotzer vu modernen digitale Publikatiounsforme sinn, gi wéinst rechtleche Bedenken un der Verbreedung vun hire Biller gehënnert. Sou gëtt d'Diffusioun vum Wësse vun der Mënschheet onnéideg beschränkt, während gläichzäiteg en neit Spillfeld fir eng Rechtsnotzung opgemaach gëtt, déi mëssbraucht ka ginn.
Dofir bieden ech Iech frëndlech, dofir ze stëmmen, datt d'Panoramafräiheet net ageschränkt, mee villméi gestäerkt gëtt an deen Uwendungsberäich op d'ganz Europäesch Unioun, dorënner och op Lëtzebuerg, auszebreeden.
Mat beschte Gréiss,
XXX
Status update
ännerenHello all! Thank you all for your work to this subject.
- Past Thursday we had a meeting with WMF to evaluate the political situation in Brussels and to determine if setting up a banner today would be effective. In these two weeks there are two critical points in the political process to get to a text that is safe for Wikipedia: before 1 July an MEP need to take action to get the text changed with sufficient support from other MEPs, and on 9 July the plenary voting in the European Parliament. We determined Thursday that as a result of all our actions Wikimedia wide, we have generated enough attention to get the first step done. Congratulations! But this was the small step, the large one is the plenary voting.
- The question we asked ourselves is if we should already show a banner today. A banner on top of every Wikipedia page is a very powerful and sensitive instrument we should be carefully in using it, in timing and wording, certainly if it concerns a subject in the field of advocacy. Also it should be used as last resort. As said, we have arranged enough attention for point one. We also consider two weeks before the voting as too long, because when the banner is seen this week, it likely will be forgotten two weeks later. Therefore we consider it better to start with the banner on 2 July, after assessing how the situation has developed.
- We advice you not to set up a banner in this week already, but this is an advice. If your local community decides otherwise, this will be respected. We recommend a strong European action at the same time together.
- The international landing page about this issue is ready at: Freedom of Panorama in Europe in 2015. It would be welcome to translate this page to Luxembourgish on a page on the Luxembourgish Wikipedia to show that (also) this Wikipedia wants the proposal be changed. (Please add your page in the item Q20200822 on Wikidata.)
- The page with an overview of the Members of the European Parliament (MEP) in Luxembourg is (also) at Freedom of Panorama in Europe in 2015/Contact your MEP/LU. There you can easily find an MEP, his/her e-mail and Twitter-account.
- If we set up a banner on 2 July, we like to set up a CentralNotice banner also for Luxembourg (with approval of WMF), depending on how the politics evolve. For this banner translations are needed. If you want to translate the texts of the banner from English into Luxembourgish, add your name, language and how we can reach you at m:Talk:Freedom of Panorama in Europe in 2015/Banner and we will let you know when you can translate.
- What is the plan?
- We will asses the situation on 2 July, then we will set up a banner that day for multiple countries. This gives us also more time to get all the translations in the various European languages.
- We have asked the Wikimedia Foundation to come with an official statement. They have indicated that they will work on this and will come with an official statement and/or blog post on 2 July.
- But in the mean while just waiting? - No!
- Send a personal e-mail to an MEP in your country/area. If you send an e-mail to an MEP, please write it in your own language in your own words. Sending a the same identical message to multiple MEPs, they will notice that and then it does not work any more. See: Freedom of Panorama in Europe in 2015/Contact your MEP/LU. You can link to: http://meta.wikipedia/wiki/saveFoP
- Send a tweet to an MEP, make it as personal as possible. Hashtag for the action is #saveFoP
- Write together a press release or an open letter from the community (like on de-wiki)
- Let's do this! Thank you for all the work!! Romaine (Diskussioun) 11:05, 27. Jun. 2015 (UTC)
Article about Freedom of Panorama
ännerenHi all! On 9 July there will be a voting about Freedom of Panorama in the European Union. On 2 July we plan to start with an action. It would be good to have the article Freedom of Panorama to be translated in all the European languages. I noticed that there is no article about this subject in the Luxembourgish Wikipedia. Therefore my question if you can translate the article into Luxembourgish. Only the first section of the English article is also sufficient. Thank you! Romaine (Diskussioun) 10:10, 29. Jun. 2015 (UTC)
Status update 3 July 2015
ännerenIt is going fast the past 24 hours and before. Therefore this update below, written bij my colleague Dimi_z who is for the Wikimedia movement following the political developments in the EU in the past weeks and years:
- 1. We have managed to find enough MEPs from various groups to file a positive amendment affirming Freedom of Panorama. The signatures were collected with the help of mainly the Dutch, German and Estonian ALDE members.
- 2. As a result of the big pressure we exercised and the fact that his own group publicly opposed him on this, Mr. Cavada has now called everyone in the European Parliament to vote to delete his wording, but also to oppose the amendment, as a compromise. It looks like there is a solid majority for this compromise.
- 3. Delegations form the second largest group, the S&D, have taken public positions against the Cavada text. They have however also let us know, that they wouldn't appreciate being cornered into voting for new (ALDE) amendment. The reasons they cite are mainly of procedural nature.
- 4. It would take a lot of pressure to get the positive amendment through. Such an aggressive campaign pushing for the absolute maximum this early on in the legislative process could, I am afraid, hurt our standing. Especially banners are only effective if they are used conservatively and there is an imminent threat. This threat is not given any longer, which we should all congratulate ourselves for. This is something we achieved! I want to personally thank each and every single one of the hundreds of people who worked on this.
- 5. We can still push for the positive amendment by ALDE! We can do this by writing and calling our MEPs personally and ask them to vote for it. We can also do this by joining the petition, which will ask all its signatories to to do the same.
- 6. What we can and should do now is invest in the contacts we established with MEPs and their assistants. Thank the ones who answered and promised to help! Invite them to a Wikipedia meet-up! Offer you expertise! Ask them to help you with FoP on the national level if you have none!
- 7. Maintaining contacts is also important, as the copyright reform dossier will come to the European Parliament sometime next year. If we make friends now, it will make our lives much easier next time around.
- 8. The vote on 9 July will go down as follows: First the positive amendment by ALDE will be voted on, then after that the "split" (meaning deletion) of the FoP paragraph. If the positive amendment passes, we would need the deletion to be rejected. If the positive amendment is rejected, we need the deletion to get a majority.
So Dimi and the rest of the team advices not to activate the CentralNotice banner in Luxembourgish and also not to create a Sitenotice banner instead.
It is up to the community to decide if a banner should be activated in Luxembourgish.
If your community decides to switch on the banner, please make this known at this page.
If you need more information or if you have questions, you can ask them through our helpline.
Thank you so much for all the work done! We have made our voice heard, with success! :-) Romaine (Diskussioun) 01:16, 3. Jul. 2015 (UTC)
- PS: I will try to keep you informed on this page about future developments. Romaine (Diskussioun) 01:16, 3. Jul. 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you Romaine for this update and your work, and many thanks also to Dimi and colleagues involved for all their work done. I agree that given the latest news, a banner is at this stage not advised (anymore); the "main dish" will come once the European Commission will have presented its draft proposal for a direcitve and the Parliament will have to vote on it (or on amaedments) some time next year.
- Well et sécher ze si schéngt, datt de kontroverséierte Passage aus dem Rapport vum Parlament erausgeholl soll ginn, gëtt proposéiert, virleefeg keng "Banneren" opzeschalten. Ech sinn domat d'accord, wann een anerer Meenung ass, kann dat hei drënner (oder besser op der Spzezialsäit dozou, gär diskutiéert ginn. --Zinneke (Diskussioun) 09:58, 3. Jul. 2015 (UTC)
Voting: outcomes
ännerenToday, 9 July 2015, the European Parliament voted about the copyright report, including the subject Freedom of Panorama.
- The negative text by Cavada (Freedom of Panorama only non-commercial in whole EU) was dropped by 502 to 40.
- The positive text by Schaake (full Freedom of Panorama in whole EU) didn't pass by 228 to 303.
- The report as a whole was accepted with 445 to 65 with 32 abstentions.
Thanks everyone, we almost manage to achieve a full swing, which is a very tough feat to get done in 3 weeks.
What is next?
Autumn 2015: European Commission planned proposal on a renewed EU Directive.
Thank your MEPs and try to keep in touch with them. Romaine (Diskussioun) 14:31, 9. Jul. 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks again, Romaine, for the update and to everyone who helped to prevent a disaster in-the-making, including, of course, the 502 of our elected representatives. --Zinneke (Diskussioun) 14:55, 9. Jul. 2015 (UTC)

--Bdx (Diskussioun) 07:31, 8. Jul. 2015 (UTC)
- Woubäi et dann awer vläicht ganz wichteg wier amplaz hei iwwer de mä en de mee oder aner Niewesächlechkeeten ze diskutéieren, dann all déi aner Wierder déi eng sougenannt linguistesch Basis hunn, richteg ze schreiwen, d'Concordancen, an d'Liaisounen z'applizéieren, richteg ze deklinéiren an ze conjugéieren asw. asw. (Dat ass net perséinlech gemengt mä dat sinn déi Feeler déi reegelméisseg opdauchen). En plus entsteet d'Veraarmung vun enger Sprooch net duerch eng eenhhetlech Schreifweis, mä doduerch datt keen d'Wierder an d'Bedeitunge kennt a mengt se duerch auslännesch Ausdréck missen z'ersetzen. (cf.d'Geschicht vum Mëschtkaascht). --Les Meloures (Diskussioun) 07:51, 8. Jul. 2015 (UTC)
Kategorie:Persounen aus Venezuela oder Kategorie:Venezuelanesch Persounen ?
ännerenDës zwou Kategorie bezéie sech op datselwescht watfireng solle mir halen?--Robby (Diskussioun) 21:31, 8. Jul. 2015 (UTC)
- Genee déi selwecht Fro stellt sech fir: Kategorie:Persounen aus Venezuela no Aktivitéit an Kategorie:Venezuelanesch Persounen no Aktivitéit.--Robby (Diskussioun) 21:33, 8. Jul. 2015 (UTC)
- Souwäit ech gesinn, hunn nëmmen déi Däitsch- a Spuenschssproocheg sech mat de Venezolaner. Et ass deemno richteg, ma et kennt keen et. Aus pragmatesche Grënn wier ech fir d'Venezuelaner (an hir Derivativen); mer musse jo net méi kathoulesch si wéi de Poopscht.--Zinneke (Diskussioun) 15:00, 9. Jul. 2015 (UTC)

D'Kantoner existéiere jo och nach obschonn se keng besonnesch Funktioun méi hunn. Et kann awer och sinn, datt ech net gutt genuch informéiert sinn.--MMFE (Diskussioun) 10:51, 11. Jul. 2015 (UTC)

Help for non-Luxembourgish speakers
ännerenBonjour! Hallo!
By the way, I am from Tagalog (Filipino) and Kapampangan Wikipedia. I have added Wikipedia:Help for non-Luxembourgish speakers. I would be mostly glad if it would be added to the mainpage list. Merci! Danke! - Leeheonjin (Diskussioun) 17:27, 27. Jul. 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Leeheonjin,
- thanks for creating this new page. However... how is it supposed to help? And whom? --Zinneke (Diskussioun) 20:17, 27. Jul. 2015 (UTC)
- Hallo Zinneke! This is for all Wikipedians who may have general enquiries regarding Luxembourgish Wikipedia. And anyone from WikipediaLB can participate in anyone's concerns or questions. -- 20:59, 27. Jul. 2015 (UTC)
- Hello, but why a specific page? This one fulfills exactly the same criteria: To discuss and ask questions (in whatever language they be)... To me, the one you created is simply redundant. Grts, --Zinneke (Diskussioun) 07:58, 28. Jul. 2015 (UTC)

Wikidata: Access to data from arbitrary items is coming
änneren(Sorry for writing in English)
When using data from Wikidata on Wikipedia and other sister projects, there is currently a limitation in place that hinders some use cases: data can only be accessed from the corresponding item. So, for example, the Wikipedia article about Berlin can only get data from the Wikidata item about Berlin but not from the item about Germany. This had technical reasons. We are now removing this limitation. It is already done for many projects. Your project is one of the next ones. We will roll out this feature here on August 12.
We invite you to play around with this new feature if you are one of the people who have been waiting for this for a long time. If you have technical issues/questions with this you can come to d:Wikidata:Contact the development team.
A note of caution: Please be careful with how many items you use for a single page. If it is too many pages, loading might get slow. We will have to see how the feature behaves in production to see where we need to tweak and how.
How to use it, once it is enabled:
- Parser function: {{#property:P36|from=Q183}} to get the capital from the item about Germany
- Lua: see mw:Extension:Wikibase Client/Lua

Den LM huet dunn dru geschafft a soss näischt dozou gesot. Gëschter hunn ech e Redirect vun "Terrain" op "Grondstéck" gemaach. Deen huet den LM geläscht mat der Begrënnung "Redirect vun engem villdeitege Begrëff op e spezifeschen". Soit. Dunn hunn ech grad en Artikel Terrain ugeluecht (net nëmmen e Redirect) an direkt kënnt den LM a setzt en "Iwwerschaffen" dran.
Ech verstinn net firwat, huelen et erëm eraus a froen no enger Begrënnung well ech mengen datt den LM dat just mécht well e mech jo souwisou op Schrëtt an Trëtt schikanéiert. A wat mécht hien? Ech hunn hien net provozéiert, mee no enger Begrënnung gefrot, well d'Pechbild seet: "Dësen Artikel entsprécht net de Wikipediacritèrë fir en enzyklopedeschen Artikel.
--Bdx (Diskussioun) 11:58, 7. Aug. 2015 (UTC)
- ad Bdx. Wat ass asozial wa bei engem Artikel d'Iwwerschaffeschabloun dragesat gëtt ???? Wanns de selwer net verstees firwat dat gemaach gouf, da looss se wéinstens dra stoen, fir datt aner Leit déi periodesch an där Kategorie laanschtginn sech dat kënnen ukucken an eventuell verbesseren a kompletéieren. Aug. 2015 (UTC)
- Du bass erbäermlech. Natierlech ass dat perséinlech vun denger Säit, soss géifs du net bei ALL Artikel deen ech schreiwen direkt drun ännere goen. Gëff mir eng Begrënnung (ech mengen nämlech datts du guer keng hues) fir datt ech dir soe kann, firwat du falsch läis oder huel d'"Iwwerschaffen" eraus. Du bass hei keen Diktator no deem sengem Wëlle jiddweree muss danzen.
- Ma et ass ganz einfach: Fir de Begrëff Terrain gëtt et op d'mannst fënnef oder sechs Bedeitungen vun deenen déi, déi am heefegste gebraucht gëtt mol net opgefouert ass.
- Wann ech bis elo nach an all Artikel deens de geschriwwen hues ännere ginn, dann ass dat héchstens en Zeechen datt an all Artikel Feeler stoungen. Wanns de gutt oppasst da misst de erausfonnt hunn datt ech permanent amgaange sinn ze verbesseren, also meng nëmmen net du wiers an enger prioritärer Situatioun.
- Den LM huet dunn dru geschafft a soss näischt dozou gesot.
- Wat hätt ech dann denger Meenung no solle soen. ??? --Les Meloures (Diskussioun) 12:33, 7. Aug. 2015 (UTC)
- De Begrëff “Terrain” huet laut “Luxemburger Wörterbuch” (Bd. 4, S. 327) e puer Bedeitungen, déi een eigentlech getrennt misst behandelen: (1) Grundstück, (2) Gelände, (3) Sportfeld, (4) Fachgebiet. – Virwërf wéi “asozial” oder “erbäermlech” bréngen eis eigentlech net vill an enger Diskussioun, déi enzyklopedesch soll sinn.--Jamcelsus (Diskussioun) 13:35, 7. Wikidata: Access to data from arbitrary items is here
änneren(Sorry for writing in English)
Hi everyone,
As I have previously announced here we have now enabled the arbitrary access feature here. This means from now on you can make use of data from any Wikidata item in any article here. Before you could for example only access data about Berlin in the article about Berlin. If you want to find out more or have questions please come to d:Wikidata:Arbitrary access. I hope this will open up great possibilities for you and make your work easier. Cheers Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) 13:32, 12. Aug. 2015 (UTC)
VisualEditor News #4—2015
ännerenRead this in another language • Subscription list for this multilingual newsletter
Did you know?
Since the last newsletter, the Editing Team have been working on mobile phone support. They have fixed many bugs and improved language support. They post weekly status reports on mediawiki.org. Their workboard is available in Phabricator. Their current priorities are improving language support and functionality on mobile devices.
Wikimania
ännerenThe team attended Wikimania 2015 in Mexico City. There they participated in the Hackathon and met with individuals and groups of users. They also made several presentations about VisualEditor and the future of editing.
Following Wikimania, we announced winners for the VisualEditor 2015 Translathon. Our thanks and congratulations to users Halan-tul, Renessaince, (Janak Bhatta), Vahe Gharakhanyan, Warrakkk, and Eduardogobi.
For interface messages (translated at translatewiki.net), we saw the initiative affecting 42 languages. The average progress in translations across all languages was 56.5% before the translathon, and 78.2% after (+21.7%). In particular, Sakha improved from 12.2% to 94.2%; Brazilian Portuguese went from 50.6% to 100%; Taraškievica went from 44.9% to 85.3%; Doteli went from 1.3% to 41.2%. Also, while 1.7% of the messages were outdated across all languages before the translathon, the percentage dropped to 0.8% afterwards (-0.9%).
For documentation messages (on mediawiki.org), we saw the initiative affecting 24 languages. The average progress in translations across all languages was 26.6% before translathon, and 46.9% after (+20.3%). There were particularly notable achievements for three languages. Armenian improved from 1% to 99%; Swedish, from 21% to 99%, and Brazilian Portuguese, from 34% to 83%. Outdated translations across all languages were reduced from 8.4% before translathon to 4.8% afterwards (-3.6%).
We published some graphs showing the effect of the event on the Translathon page. We thank the translators for participating and the translatewiki.net staff for facilitating this initiative.
Recent improvements
ännerenAuto-fill features for citations can be enabled on each Wikipedia. The tool uses the citoid service to convert a URL or DOI into a pre-filled, pre-formatted bibliographic citation. You can see an animated GIF of the quick, simple process at mediawiki.org. So far, about a dozen Wikipedias have enabled the auto-citation tool. To enable it for your wiki, follow the instructions at mediawiki.org.
Your wiki can customize the first section of the special character inserter in VisualEditor. Please follow the instructions at mediawiki.org to put the characters you want at the top. In other changes, if you need to fill in a CAPTCHA and get it wrong, then you can click to get a new one to complete. VisualEditor can now display and edit Vega-based graphs. If you use the Monobook skin, VisualEditor's appearance is now more consistent with other software.
Future changes
ännerenThe team will be changing the appearance of selected links inside VisualEditor. The purpose is to make it easy to see whether your cursor is inside or outside the link. When you select a link, the link label (the words shown on the page) will be enclosed in a faint box. If you place your cursor inside the box, then your changes to the link label will be part of the link. If you place your cursor outside the box, then it will not. This will make it easy to know when new characters will be added to the link and when they will not.
On the English Wikipedia, 10% of newly created accounts are now offered both the visual and the wikitext editors. A recent controlled trial showed no significant difference in survival or productivity for new users in the short term. New users with access to VisualEditor were very slightly less likely to produce results that needed reverting. You can learn more about this by watching a video of the July 2015 Wikimedia Research Showcase. The proportion of new accounts with access to both editing environments will be gradually increased over time. Eventually all new users have the choice between the two editing environments.
Let's work together
änneren- Share your ideas and ask questions at mw:VisualEditor/Feedback. This feedback page is now using Flow instead of LiquidThreads.
- Can you read and type in Korean or Japanese? Language engineer David Chan needs people who know which tools people use to type in some languages. If you speak Japanese or Korean, you can help him test support for these languages. Please see the instructions at mediawiki.org if you can help.
- If your wiki would like VisualEditor enabled on another namespace, you can file a request in Phabricator. Please include a link to a community discussion about the requested change.
- Please file requests for language-appropriate "Fett" and "Kursiv" icons for the styling menu in Phabricator.
- The design research team wants to see how real editors work. Please sign up for their research program.
- The weekly task triage meetings continue to be open to volunteers, usually on Tuesdays at 12:00 (noon) PDT (19:00 UTC). Learn how to join the meetings and how to nominate bugs at mw:VisualEditor/Weekly triage meetings. You do not need to attend the meeting to nominate a bug for consideration as a Q1 blocker, though. Instead, go to Phabricator and "associate" the main VisualEditor project with the bug.

Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves Art, and Freedom of Panorama
ännerenHello! As Wikimedia Belgium we have a new project in mind and after four years of organising Wiki Loves Monuments in Belgium and Luxembourg, we have decided that we skip this year in organising Wiki Loves Monuments. It is likely that we organise Wiki Loves Monuments in 2016 again, but is not yet sure. In the mean while we are working on another project where users of Luxembourg can participate in as well.
In 2014 we had talks with cultural institutions about possible collaborations with Wikimedia Belgium. We noticed that those organisations are a little bit reserved in actively starting a project together with Wikipedia/Wikimedia. Therefore we started thinking what we can do to help those organisations in their shyness of collaboration. We came to the conclusion that the project Wiki Loves Art is a good way to work with them. Wiki Loves Art is a photo contest in what we ask the public to take photos of art and other items from the participating organisations, during one month in spring 2016. But before it is ready to do that, we become acquainted with them and present ourselves and we explain the possibilities of how organisations can work together with Wikipedia. Then they can say if they like to participate in the contest or want to do another project or want to do both. In the past week our grant request for Wiki Loves Art received funding from the Wikimedia Foundation and in September 2015 we will start with the project. If users from Luxembourg like to join our project and want to get in contact with cultural institutions in Luxembourg, it is possible and we can organise it together. If you are interested in joining, just let me know.
As you know, in July the European Parliament voted in favour of Freedom of Panorama. The next step is that the European Commission is handling this subject, before it can be implemented in the whole of Europe. This does not mean that there is no other way to get Freedom of Panorama. In the past week the news reached us that members of the Belgian federal parliament are preparing a change in the copyright laws to make Freedom of Panorama possible in Belgium. (Dutch site / French news) At the same time Wikimedia France and Wikimedia Italy are communicating with politicians on this subject as well. If you have communicated to/with Members of the European Parliament for Luxembourg in July concerning the Freedom of Panorama issue, maybe you can contact them again and tell them that Belgium is preparing a law change on this matter.

Ech froe mech elo ob et Sënn mécht dës Läischt bäizebehalen: wat méi Stroossen derbäi kommen, wat och d'Läischt méi laang gëtt an dann ob emol kee sech méi dran erëmfënnt.
Wär et net vläicht besser an der Kategorie d'Stroossen an enger Tabelle op ze lëschten déi een zortéieren kann?
Merci fir Är Hëllef. --GilPe (Diskussioun) 15:04, 5. Sep. 2015 (UTC)
- Moie GilPe,
- flott, datt s de do e Gebitt fonnt hues, dat nach jett fir Artikelen hier gëtt. Ech giff mer do net zevill Gedanke maachen; Deemno, wivill et der häerno ginn, a wéi komplett dat ass, kann een deementspriechend Lëschten a Kategorien uleeën, dat ass relativ séier gemaach. Artikelen ass dat, wat zielt :^) --Zinneke (Diskussioun) 18:13, 5. Sep. 2015 (UTC)
